Kersey, Colorado reimburses $586,000 in speeding tickets
Feb 5, 2026, 9:29 AM
The Town of Kersey, Colorado, voted on January 13, 2026, to refund over $586,000 in $340 photo radar speeding tickets issued prior to mid-November 2025.
These fines violated the town’s own law and ordinance, which capped speed camera penalties at $40.
The photo radar is located on Weld County Road 49 (CR 49), specifically where the speed limit decreases significantly, often from 65 mph to 45 mph in a short stretch.
Kersey just posted that it will take 30-60 days to get your refund.
Refund forms are expected to be available on the town’s website as of February 3, 2026.
The refunds affect individuals who received and paid for $340 photo radar tickets for speeding 25 mph or more over the limit on Weld County Road 49.
