Jelly Roll Donates over 300 Meals to a Nashville Detention Facility

Nov 28, 2025, 5:00 PM

Jelly Roll has never shied away from sharing his story, including the years he spent in and out of prison before becoming one of country music’s biggest stars. And this Thanksgiving week, he returned to give back in a powerful way — providing over 300 meals to inmates and staff at the Nashville detention facility where he was once incarcerated.

Nashville Mayor Daron Hall shared a video Thursday of Jelly Roll visiting the undisclosed facility, where he and his wife Bunnie XO spent time talking with inmates and staff, handing out meals, and offering encouragement ahead of the holiday.

This isn’t the first time Jelly Roll has invested in the justice system that once held him. Over the years, he has partnered with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, helping fund and build a music studio for the Juvenile Detention Center in 2024. He’s also donated a portion of ticket sales from his Backroad Baptism Tour — contributing nearly $600,000 to support at-risk youth programs across the U.S.

Mayor Hall praised Jelly Roll’s impact, saying:
“During this season, I’d like to give thanks for giving Jelly Roll. Last night, he provided a holiday meal to 300 inmates and staff on the same site where he was once incarcerated.”

From his music to his advocacy, Jelly Roll continues to use his platform to uplift the very communities he once came from — proving that second chances can change everything.
