Broncos’ J.K. Dobbins to Undergo Likely Season-Ending Foot Surgery

Nov 15, 2025, 3:11 PM

As the Broncos prepare to host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Mile High, the team has announced that starting running back J.K. Dobbins will undergo foot surgery — a procedure that will likely end his season.

The injury occurred during last week’s Thursday Night Football win over the Raiders, when Dobbins was taken down on an illegal hip-drop tackle by Tyree Wilson. Earlier in the week, Denver placed Dobbins on injured reserve, but news broke Saturday afternoon that he would require surgery and is expected to miss the remainder of the year.

Dobbins, who signed a one-year deal with the Broncos this offseason, had emerged as the team’s lead back in an otherwise inconsistent rushing attack. He was averaging just over five yards per carry and became the Broncos’ first 100-yard rusher since Latavius Murray accomplished the feat in Week 18 of the 2022 season.

With Dobbins sidelined, the Broncos will turn to rookie RJ Harvey, a growing weapon in the passing game, along with Tyler Badie to carry the load moving forward.

There’s an outside chance Dobbins could return if Denver makes a deep postseason run, potentially as late as Super Bowl weekend in February, but for now, his loss is another major blow to a surging Broncos team.

Denver will already be without cornerback Pat Surtain, linebacker Alex Singleton, and edge rusher Jonah Ellis when they take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, as they look to extend their seven-game win streak.
