It doesn’t matter who makes the list, if there’s a list of haunted places, Estes Park, Colorado’s Stanley Hotel usually makes it on it. The website “How Stuff Works” just put out a new list of the most haunted spots in America, and the iconic Colorado hotel is on it of course…
The list, that includes locations across the country that draw in visitors with their tragic backstories and reported ghostly encounters, said this about the spooky spot in the Colorado mountains; “Stephen King’s stay in Room 217 at the Estes Park, Colorado, hotel inspired his book, “The Shining.” Both guests and staff have reported seeing ghostly children running in the halls and hearing piano music, making it a hot spot for ghost hunters.”
Other spots on this list include:
- Eastern State Penitentiary
- RMS Queen Mary
- Myrtles Plantation
- Lizzie Borden House
- Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum
- St. Augustine Lighthouse
- Winchester Mystery House
- LaLaurie Mansion
- The Pine Barrens
