Riley Green and Cody Johnson – writing on the spicy side of life | Music City Minute

Aug 29, 2025, 10:16 AM

There is no doubt, Riley Green’s latest number one single “Worst Way” is one of the most popular songs with the ladies. Interestingly, Green doesn’t stake his career on romantic songs. “Mr. Duckman” recently admitted that he feels uncomfortable writing love songs. However, with the popularity of “Worst Way,” “There Was This Girl” and “You Look Like You Love Me,” the 36-year-old country star believes fans will now expect at least one steamy song on every album from here on out.
Speaking of spicy music, Cody Johnson is also reaching outside of his comfort zone – writing and recording tracks for a new album. The professional team roper and country star feels like it’s time to shake things musically. So, he is challenging himself to write slightly steamier songs for this next project. I think we can all agree that a little competition between the two artists will go a long way as they prepare to face off in a love song battle royal.
