WATCH – Escaped Colorado kangaroo has to be wrangled for the second time in less than a year

Two things that almost never go together in a sentence, Colorado and kangaroos, have become somewhat common now thanks to one slippery little escape artist.
A pet kangaroo in Durango, Colorado escaped it’s home for the second time in less than a year this week.
On Monday (May 19), officers had to wrangle the kangaroo after he escaped for the second time. The department released body camera footage of officers cornering the pet named Irwin, then picking him up and putting him in the back of a police car.
The Durango Police Department said officers had another run-in with Irwin, the viral kangaroo that escaped in October 2024.
In case you were wondering, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said it’s legal to have a pet red kangaroo, depending on local laws and state and federal compliance.
