Is the new art installation at Denver’s airport an extraterrestrial communication device?

Sep 2, 2025, 4:17 PM | Updated: 4:18 pm

Blucifer, the gargoyles that overlook baggage claim and the pictures seeming to depict genocide are just a few examples of “art” at Denver International Airport. Now, there’s a new piece that’s been installed, so it must have a deeper meaning too, right?

The piece, called The CONSTELLATIONS, was created by Danielle Roney, a New York-based artist whose work is self-described as concerning “the creation of fluid architectures and the role of communicative infrastructures in public space.”

Her piece at DIA consists of two unique suspended sculptures that are based on the geometry of specific constellations visible above Denver during the winter and summer solstices. So, maybe they aren’t some sort of extraterrestrial communication device, but I am eager to see/hear what conspiracy theories people eventually come up with.

The CONSTELLATIONS are in the atriums of Concourse C, near gates C54 and C62. The installation was officially unveiled back in May.
