You’ve probably heard of the little neighborhood library boxes where people can leave and take used books. Denver now has something similar, but for dogs!
In Jefferson Park neighborhood, Joe Abdella and Hayley Bittman created a sidewalk-level “dog library” filled with used tennis balls to honor their late golden retriever, Indy.
Known for her obsession for playing fetch, Indy passed away last year at age five from a rare cancer.
Since installing it after Indy’s passing about a year ago, the library has shared over 3,000 upcycled tennis balls and become a beloved fixture for local dogs and owners. The couple continues to stock it with balls collected from area courts, and they recently welcomed a new puppy named Dory into their lives.
