Spring break is right around the corner. This year I was planning to take my kids up to Idaho Springs, see a movie and spend an afternoon at Dave & Busters. However, I’m rethinking our plans in an effort to keep our family healthy.

I’m not panicking over the latest national travel ban between the U.S. and Europe. It was actually Governor Polis recommending high risk folks stay out of the high country that got me thinking twice. Now, my sons and I are not in the high risk category but my parents are. They are both 60+ and my mom has asthma. Our family is very tight and we were really looking forward to spending spring break together. I don’t want to be a “Debbie-Downer” and cancel plans but I don’t want to put my parents in danger either.

For now, I think we’ll play it by ear. I’m sure we can still go ahead with plans closer to home and wait until the summer to head into the mountains. If anything we can always go to Colorado Springs and hike around Garden of the Gods to get our outdoor fix. Plus I LOVE the Garden of the Gods Trading Post!
