A ‘Trolls’ Series Is Coming To Netflix

If your kids loved the 2016 “Trolls” movie, there’s more where that came from. The “Trolls Holiday Special” came and went, and “Trolls 2” doesn’t hit theaters until 2020, but Netflix and DreamWorks have come to the rescue with a “Trolls” series. The new series, called “Trolls: The Beat Goes On,” picks up where the first film left off. It is set to be available on Netflix on Jan. 19.

The series will follow Queen Poppy as she tries to keep Troll Village’s peace with the Bergens by inviting them to parties, playing their sports and visiting their town. If you’ve had enough of the tunes from the original “Trolls” movie, you’ll be glad to know that the series will feature six new songs. In fact, you can pre-order the soundtrack from iTunes.

Poppy and Branch will be voiced by two new actors: Amanda Leighton (“This Is Us”) and Skyler Astin (“Pitch Perfect”). Grab your kids and check out the official trailer for the new series:

Although Netflix is famous for releasing episodes of TV shows all at once, making it perfect for binge-watching, you may want to hide that particular fact from your kids so that you can stretch out the time for them to enjoy the new “Trolls” series (keep those episodes in your back pocket so you have something to keep them occupied when you need it most!). On the other hand, if you need a longer chunk of time to yourself, let them indulge in a few episodes in one sitting!

If you’re looking for even more kid-friendly content on Netflix, the streaming service is also debuting a “Boss Baby” series as well as a “Captain Underpants” movie sequel this year. Kids are big business for Netflix, as the company said back in October 2017 that viewership of programs in its designated Kids and Family section had climbed 13 percent in the U.S. and by 61 percent in markets outside of the U.S.

When the winter doldrums hit, it sounds like you’ll have plenty of entertainment options for the kiddos at the ready!
