In the race to see which ski area will open first this season, Loveland Ski Area is preparing for its opening day as the snow guns are firing and the National Weather Service is forecasting up to 18 inches of snow for the resort. Last year, the ski area opened on November 3, and they are waiting for an 18-inch base and 1,000 vertical feet before opening this year. In addition to the snow, the ski area is also excited about the significantly colder temperatures that are on the way.

From Loveland’s website: Near to the hearts and homes of generations of Colorado skiers and riders, Loveland is Colorado’s true winter wonderland. Just 53 miles west of Denver, Loveland boasts 1,800 acres of remarkable terrain, FREE snowcat skiing along the Continental Divide, an innovative lesson program and more snow than any Front Range or Summit County resort. Loveland is home for those that simply want to ski or ride.

Who do you think will open first?
