(UNKNOWN), CHRISTINE
10-9-2007
I just wanted to tell you about an extraordinary young woman we met while on vacation in March. We'd won a trip from Big & Rich to go to an equestrian ranch in Texas. We met a young lady named "Christine", but never got her last name. She was on leave from Iraq where she was a helicopter pilot. She wasn't very big and we were just astonished when we found out what she did. Every night at dinner my son had a question about the war and flying, and she patiently answered each and every one of them. She gave us such a personal insight into the war and the everyday lives of the soldiers, and we so appreciated the opportunity to know her. She was the same age as our daughter, which just brought us closer to our hearts. We pray for her everyday and hold our breath everytime we hear about soldiers being killed, especially in helicopter crashes. Maybe it is a blessing that we don't know her last name, but we will never forget her beautiful face and dazzling smile. Please salute Christine, the brave woman piot in Iraq.

(UNKNOWN), LUCAS
10-23-2007
I am engaged to a soldier that FINALLY is on his way home from Iraq. It has been 16 months since Lucas was deployed and it was a year on October 20th since his family and I have seen him. He is in the 82nd Airborne and his battalion has gone through a lot. From being extended 3 times to losing many of their brothers. It has been a long awaited homecoming and when we finally thought it was all going to be over tomorrow they pushed the day back til Saturday, but as late as Nov. 1st. As we welcome home one soldier, we sent another cousin Chris Nelson to boot camp for the marines. I want to congratulate all the men and women that are finally making their long journey back home and pray for those who have just left and making that trip down the long road they all face in Iraq. Also if we could remind every American that it is for those brave souls that we are safe and live the life we do every day. Please God bless every man and woman away from home protecting or serving our country and thank them for all they do.
God Bless, Katie Brewer |

Well I have been listening to KYGO morning, noon and night for a few years now and I have to say that I love the Soldier Salute. Currently my boyfriend of 5 years is serving his first tour in Iraq. I have to say that he is my hero because the reason he wanted to go out there was to send some of the boys home for Christmas, even though it meant sacrificing all the major holidays for him. He is 22 and by far the youngest hero in our family!

(UNKNOWN), ANDREW
11-15-2008
Hi Paul, this is a different kind of salute. My brother in law, Andrew, is stationed on the USS PONCE in the Middle East. Among his duties is to transport the Marines and Navy Seals to their destinations. Andrew has said that there are so many of the soldiers on that ship who do not receive snail mail from home (it's SO important!), but for those that do, it just really makes their day. My salute is to Kennedy High, Henry Middle, Kaiser Elementary and friends and family who helped my kids to gather 1000 holiday cards to send to the ship for the holidays. We could not have done it without you!

The other is my boyfriend who is currently in Iraq, but will be home sometime in January. Thank You very much for doing this, I appreciate it. They are over there defending our freedom and i think that they deserve this and much more.

Good afternoon Paul! I do not even know the names of these AWESOME
soldiers that I met. However, your salute reminds me everyday that most
of us may not know someone personally in the Armed Services. But we
should all take a moment each day to include our BRAVE soldiers in our
thoughts and prayers!
This is the soldier from Iraq and his girlfriend (whom he met while they were both serving in Iraq) that I met on the cruise ship. He changed my way of thinking about the war and our soldiers. He was such an AWESOME person. Please let all of our Men and Women out there protecting our FREEDOM know how
much we appreciate them and want them to return home safely very soon!
Thanks to you for saluting them and a BIG THANKS to all of our Soldiers
everywhere!!!!!

BIER, NATHANIAL
3-13-2008
Hi Paul!
I am sitting at work listening to KYGO online and I heard the thing about the soldier in Iraq. My boyfriend/friend (were working on things at the moment, we are high school sweethearts) Nathaniel Bier, is currently deployed in Iraq. He is on a two week leave at the moment and will be in Denver next week. After that he returns to Iraq and we have no idea when he will be return. I just wanted to say how proud I am of him for going and fighting for us even when times at home are not great, his mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and is not doing well. Anyways, I just wanted to send you an e-mail in response to your radio announcement. Thank you.
